Title 1 Services and Resources
Our Title I Handbook is to provide you a better understanding of the Title I Targeted Assist program her at South Range Local Schools. The term "targeted assistance" signifies that the services are provided to a select group of children -- those identified as failing, or most at risk of failing; the goal of a targeted assistance school is to improve teaching and learning to enable participants to meet the challenging State performance standards that all children are expected to master. A targeted assistance program must be based on effective means for improving achievement of participating children; use effective instructional strategies that give primary consideration to extended-time strategies, provide accelerated, high-quality curricula, and minimize removing children from the regular classroom during regular school hours; coordinate with and support the regular education program; provide instruction by highly-qualified and trained professional staff; and implement strategies to increase parental involvement. Targeted Assistance through Title I services are offered from fifth through eighth grade to support English/Language Arts and Mathematics.
The district will host a Title 1 Literacy Night for those who are identified and participating in Title 1 services. Throughout the school year we also hold two conference nights to allow our staff and parents to work together ensuring students needs are met.
We encourage parents who have concerns to reach out to the building administration or Grants Coordinator, Steve Matos, to discuss our Title 1 services.
Title I Survey
All students who are identified as a student with academic needs that qualify them for Title 1 services will be expected to complete a Title 1 survey.
School-Parent Compact

The compact outlines the services and program funded by Federal funds through Title 1, Par A of the Elementary and Secondary Act (ESEA). Within the compact it is outlines how the parents, staff, and students are responsible for improving the students' academic achievement.
